Community Meets Luxury

What’s Coming to Dutchess County in 2021?

December 29, 2020

A new year, new Dutchess County area destinations, and more new homes at Sleight Farm: we have much to be excited about!

We all have high hopes for 2021, including a return to our favorite activities. Imagine, by year’s end, we could be eating at restaurants, attending sports events, enjoying live performances, celebrating community festivals, exploring family attractions, and enjoying movies in a theatre again.
Here in Dutchess County and the surrounding region, we’ll have some exciting new options in those areas – an extra reason to believe 2021 will be a great year.
The Hudson Valley Renegades

The Renegades, formerly a Class A Short Season New York–Penn League baseball team, is now the High Single-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, and are scheduled to play in the upcoming Mid-Atlantic League. With this change, the Hudson Valley will get to enjoy its first full minor league season at Dutchess Stadium in Wappinger Falls. The team logo will be rebranded for the Yankees and uniforms will feature the franchise’s iconic pinstripes.

The new Hudson Valley Renegades team logo and uniforms were recently unveiled.

Legoland New York

The long-awaited Legoland New York is set to open in 2021, in the nearby town of Goshen. This brand new LEGO theme park will offer 50 rides and attractions where visitors can “ride, climb, splash, and build” their way through seven themed lands, including the “Factory”, which provides an inside look at the LEGO manufacturing process from the point of view of a minifig, Bricktopia, and Ninjago World. Legoland also includes on-site dining and a hotel.

The Academy Market and Food Hall

Poughkeepsie’s revitalization continues, and one of the more anticipated additions is the Academy Market and Food Hall at 33-35 Academy Street, expected to open Summer 2021. This planned community hub will offer a variety of upscale food vendors and common gathering spaces, as well as shopping and other small businesses.
2022 and Beyond
We have our eye on some other local projects in the works, slated for 2022:
Bow Tie Cinemas

Plans are still moving ahead to build the 10-screen Bow Tie Cinemas in Poughkeepsie, as part of the new Crannell Square project. Bow Tie Cinemas feature lounge recliner seating and an onsite restaurant and bar.
Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival

World-class theatre under a tent at Boscobel House and Gardens in Garrison has been a summer staple in the region for years – it’s our version of Central Park’s Delacorte Theatre. Recently, the HVSF announced that Summer 2021 will be its final season at Boscobel before moving to a new, permanent location three miles away. The signature tent will be recreated as a permanent structure with improved ventilation and sightlines. Audience members will still be able to picnic before the show in a scenic setting, but will now have the additional option of dining indoors or on a terrace at the Valley Restaurant or World’s End Bar.
All of us at Sleight Farm wish you and your loved ones a happy, healthy New Year filled with local adventures!
