Spring Activities in Dutchess County: Let the Fun Bloom!

Spring activities in Dutchess County are a joy in any year, but in 2021, they’re also filled with hope and a return to some kind of normalcy.

As the weather grows warmer, there are so many opportunities to get out and enjoy the season – while also observing COVID-19 safety measures. Here are our recommendations:
Poughkeepsie Waterfront Market
Mondays starting May 3

The Pavilion at Mid-Hudson Children’s Museum, 75 N. Water St., Poughkeepsie
Make the most of the natural bounty of the region, on the shore of the Hudson River. Free onsite parking in the Mid-Hudson Children’s Museum parking lot, with overflow parking in the Waryas Park lower parking lot.
Beacon Farmer’s Market

Enjoy this vibrant community market and gathering space, filled with veggies, dairy, meats, baked goods, and artisan fare.
Second Fridays with Eastdale Village at Cottage Square

Eastdale Village, 10 Otto Way, Poughkeepsie
Enjoy dinner, treats, and drinks from the Cottages eateries as well as a rotating selection of specialty food trucks. A different local band provides the live entertainment each month. Bring a blanket or chair, or grab a seat at one of the outdoor tables.
Hudson Valley Renegades Home Opener

The Renegades are back and more pinstriped than ever! They’re now a New York Yankees High-A Affiliate, with lots of exciting baseball and stadium fun in store all spring and summer.
Kaatsbaan Cultural Park Spring Festival 2021

This year’s Spring Festival at Kaatsbaan’s breathtakingly lush campus includes 16 performances and presentations across two outdoor stages.

Orchards full of blooming apple trees covered in white flowers – that’s one spring sight you don’t want to miss. This festival makes it a full experience with live music all along the “Apple Blossom Trail,” in addition to food and taproom cider. Don’t forget your camera.
Innisfree Garden
Open to the Public for the Season

Innisfree Garden is one of Dutchess County’s best-kept secrets – a truly magical place recognized as one of the world’s “10 Best Gardens.” Explore the 150-acre space as you wander along streams, waterfalls, terraces, retaining walls, rocks, plant, and a lake, all planned along the principles of Chinese landscape design. Advance ticket reservations required.
Dia Beacon
Now Open to the Public

3 Beekman Street Beacon
Dia Beacon, located right on the Hudson River, is a one-of-a-kind exhibition space in a former Nabisco box printing factory. The museum presents Dia’s collection of art from the 1960s to the present, as well as special exhibitions and public programs. Advance tickets required. Hudson Valley residents receive free admission to Dia Beacon on the last Sunday of each month.
First Annual Outdoor Spring Craft Fair – Town of Wappingers Recreation
Saturday, May 22
10:00am to 3:00pm
Wappingers Town Hall, 20 Middlebush Road, Wappingers Falls
An outdoor, juried fair filled with handcrafted items by local artisans. Free admission with parking on site.
“The Hunchback of Notre Dame” Performed Live at Bannerman Island
June 18th, 19th & 20th 2021
7:45pm Performance; Boat leaves Long Dock at Beacon Point Park at 6:00pm
See Victor Hugo’s epic story retold as a musical with Disney’s award-winning score and Bannerman Castle (and the surrounding Hudson River) as the scenery. This will be a truly unique outdoor theatre experience.
