In recent years, Vassar hospital became part of the HealthQuest network, which has just announced a merger with Western Connecticut Health Network to create Nuvance Health. A beautiful new state-of-the-art, eight-story hospital building will open in spring of 2020, providing more patient suites, a trauma center and other upgrades.. The hospital also announced that it’s expanding services to Poughkeepsie area residents through a residency program and a partnership to create a medical school with Marist College.Vassar Brothers Medical Center (VBMC, or sometimes known informally as Vassar Hospital) has served New York’s Mid-Hudson Valley since 1887. VBMC has established expertise in cardiac services, cancer care, and women and children’s health services. It also houses the area’s first and only cardiothoracic surgery program and the only Level III neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) in the region for premature and critically ill infants. The teams of physicians, surgeons and specialists bring innovative procedures and services to VBMC including robotic orthopedic surgery, liver and pancreatic surgery, interventional neuroradiology, surgical oncology and transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR).
Vassar hospital has been a big part of the Poughkeepsie area’s economic boom, contributing $922 million to the local economy last year. Sleight Farm is proud to be able to call VBMC our neighbor, just ten minutes away from our new home community.
