New Homes in Dutchess County…Close to Great Shopping and Entertainment
June 18, 2020
You’re interested in a building a new home in Dutchess County, somewhere in a quiet, scenic neighborhood…but not so remote that you have to drive long distances for excellent shopping and entertainment.
We frequently hear this from home shoppers at Sleight Farm, and we get it. There’s no reason to settle for anything less! We love that our new home community offers “the best of the both worlds,” especially for families looking to relocate from the New York City area or other busy locales.
Here’s a glance at all the shopping and entertainment located just minutes from LaGrange:
Entertainment

In the age of COVID-19, the drive-in movie theatre has become a safe, fun destination for a night out. Luckily, one of Dutchess County’s treasures, the Overlook Drive-In, is literally right around the corner from Sleight Farm and is open from mid-April to mid-September. For indoor and year-round movie lovers, the 16-screen Regal Cinemas in Poughkeepsie (at the Poughkeepsie Galleria) is the place to see the newest releases on state-of-the-art theatre technology.
The historic Bardavon Theatre, Mid-Hudson Civic Center, and Vassar College are among the many live entertainment destinations within fifteen minutes of Sleight Farm.
Other nearby family entertainment venues include Dutchess Stadium for Minor League baseball action with the Hudson Valley Renegades, the Trevor Zoo, Bounce! Poughkeepsie trampoline center, Splashdown Beach water park, Spins Bowl, the RPM Raceway go-kart track, , and the Gravity Vault indoor rock gym.
Shopping

Poughkeepsie Galleria
Where there’s a mall, there’s a way…and for us, that means the popular Poughkeepsie Galleria. This thriving hub offers shopping at large stores like Target and Best Buy, as well as chains such as Old Navy, H&M, and Designer Shoe Warehouse, and standalone specialty retailers.
Poughkeepsie and the Route 9 corridor is also home to Poughkeepsie Plaza and a huge variety of other outdoor shopping centers.
For boutique shopping, the villages of Rhinebeck, Beacon, and Millbrook offer quaint streets perfect for an afternoon of wandering or finding that one-of-a-kind item.
We feel fortunate that Sleight Farm can be a place to live surrounded by beauty and tranquility…yet also close to everything one could need and want. It’s what we love most about Hudson Valley and Dutchess County living.
