New Construction and the Hudson Valley Real Estate Market
The red-hot real estate market in the Hudson Valley, including Dutchess County, has left home buyers without much inventory to choose from. New listings are getting snapped up after multiple offers and bidding wars. It all makes for a very stressful and unpredictable situation for anyone wanting to relocate to the area or upgrade their living space.
What we’ve seen here at Sleight Farm is that the idea of new home construction is becoming a great alternative for many real estate shoppers. Here’s why:
Prime locations. Most new home communities are already set up in beautiful locations with excellent nearby amenities and school districts.
A set timeline. Your builder will most likely provide an estimated delivery date for the completion of your home. Six to nine months (or more) may feel like a long time, but you may end up spending that time in the home-search race anyway. With this option, you know the wait will pay off with a home that’s right for you. If you’re on a shorter timeline, your home builder might have “quick move-in” or model homes for sale.
Premium finishes and features. Typically, builders fill their homes with items they know buyers will want. That means you’ll already have brand-new plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems, which saves you money with energy efficiency and eliminating any costly repairs in the near future.
Make it yours from the beginning. With new home construction, you have the opportunity right at the start to customize your home in both big and small ways. Opt for a finished basement or an extra bedroom; choose your countertops, cabinetry, and paint colors. There will be no need to do any costly and cumbersome renovations anytime soon.
